William Betts

William O. Betts was born in Owensboro, KY. "Arts and crafts made me think I had talent when growing up", states William. As a young adult William turned his creative skills into a trade. He worked as a carpenter building homes in Florida. As a hobby he built furniture. It was at thirty-five that he did some pencils art for friends.

Due to an amputation of his left leg, William was forced to change his direction in life. He hopes to make a living using his creative skills & hands. The fall of 2003 William started on canvas board with acrylics. Christmas of 2003 William singed up at Imagine Art. William educates himself through T.V. art instructions, attending art classes, and associating with other professional artists. In Feb of 2004 he went to oil on canvas. He now listens to the encouragement of others and realizes that an artist is his own worst critic. As an emerging artist, William paints all different themes, such as landscapes, portraits, birds and flowers. VSA arts of Texas had a conference of professional artists, where William learned new techniques for mastering his style and how to access the arts professionally.
William has a mathematical, logical mind and through the use of grids and graphs and exact measurements, he recreates images in a realistic style. He explores different sizes in works, often creating the same image multiple times. He intentions are to eventually become a master painter. He is hopeful that his paintings will someday be displayed in galleries and exhibits through out the United States.
