ARTIST BIO

For me, life as a teacher means that I am forever a teacher and a student.

Nancy West’s artistic style is characterized by big and bold brushstrokes and a bright, full-color palette. Nancy just finished a 12-panel series titled Alpha Omega: Beginning and Ending, and is beginning a new series of dreamscapes. Teaching art for over 25 years, Nancy also coordinated art programs for the city of Austin. She plans to keep teaching in order to produce fresh artwork. As a single mother, she raised four children. Since 2000, when Nancy first joined Imagine Art, her art career has blossomed. Over the years, she has built a body of work with a primary focus on oil paintings. Nancy has been an Artist in Residence at Imagine Art/AmeriCorps for the past two years, and her art can be seen on Imagine Art’s online store and other places around Austin.
