I created this painting out of my desperation
for a outlet of my feelings. Of being completely
helpless to help all the people trapped in New
Orleans after the retaining walls broke and
flooded the city. I still have such vivid
pictures in my mind of people begging for
someone to help them. My shock of seeing dead
bodies floating in the water, dogs and cats trying
to swim for safety, dead bodies laying by the
road side drowned. People on their roof tops
trying to stay afloat as the water was getting
higher and higher. My distaste for Mr. Bush's
inaction in helping these victims. His smug look on
his face as he flew by in his helicopter. The pure act
of Racism in this country could not have been
more blatant. I can still taste the back water in
my mouth when I think of this horrible event.
