Hours upon hour are spent creating simple circles, crosses, dashes and marks. Hot and cold colors delight the senses as the image causes a smile to happen on your face.
Debbie Kreiger began creating more than 15 years ago, within a sheltered art center for the disabled in California. After moving to Austin with her family in 1999, she located Imagine Art. Working under the direction of a local artist, Debbie created a unique style, using colored pencils on mat board. Today, her self-made compositions are detailed images from the depths of her imagination. Debbie visits the Imagine Art studio weekly to develop her art and she works at home. Imagine Art serves as her artist representative, promoting her in 'folk art and naive art' markets.
Born in Scranton Pennsylvania (1947), Debbie Kreiger moved to Texas, California and back to Texas, where she has currently settled with her family. Cerebellar Atrophy is a life-time condition that affects Debbie's mobility and strength, causing cognitive impairment and seizure disorder. But that's not stopping her from creating whimsical images, exhibiting and selling her work.
"I always liked to draw. I have made lots of pictures of houses, cats, dogs, fishes and people. I just think about it, and then I just do it. I really enjoy my artwork. I'm happy when I finish a picture. I like to see it when it's all done. It's a good thing in my life".
