"I create art to release images, words and colors that occupy space in my head. I often have a vision for a painting inspired directly by the Word of God, through reading, worship music or sermon. Blank, empty spaces also inspire me to add color, shapes and textures that reflect my mood. God often speaks to me through my canvas, reminding me of my purpose, showing me the way I am going. Art is the process by which I explore my own impressions, experiences and journey of life.
"I am a self-taught artist. I work in a variety of mediums; oil, acrylic mixed with oil crayons, torn paper collage and I occasionally play with paper Mache and mosaic tiles. I enjoy creating art on different surfaces: canvas, found wood, boxes and balls, floors and walls – anything that sits still long enough. Oil painting is my primary passion, a deeper expression of my experiences, whereas the other mediums offer a playful distraction to daily life without the intensity of working through a painting.
"I left my career and founded Imagine Art in 1998 and the pursuit of this vision led me through a process of recovery from both drug addiction and a diagnosis of mental illness. God revealed Himself to me during this time and my journey took a new shape, recognizing God's unique design, the beauty of His creation and the power of art as a tool of ministry. Today, I am a wife and mother, I serve Imagine Art as the Founder and Artistic Director and I enjoy painting as often as I am able."
