Founded in 1997, serves over one hundred artists with disabilities nationwide. Recognized as a low-income community, over 80% of the artists we serve are unemployed. These artists face cultural, economic, educational and physical barriers to accessing opportunities in employment and in the arts. Our goal is to reduce these barriers while promoting the talents of emerging artists. Our services are tailored to meet your needs as an artist.

To transform and empower the lives of artists with disabilities in a loving community.
The Vision is made up of these three components:
A Face
A face to relate to. We are a community where people engage in authentic relationships.
A Space
A space to create. We have studio space and materials where artists can create with wild abandon.
A Place
A place to live. We envision providing a place where artists can live and create in community.
To call the artists out of isolation and artistic stagnation and into a place of impassioned creativity and service to others.
This FREE program is how we carry out our mission:
Find
Locate artists wishing to be part of our diverse community.
Restore
Confront the roots of rejection, depression, and isolation through biblically centered counseling.
Equip
Provide inhouse art school training to technically equip the artists.
Establish
Launch artists into the professional art universe through gallery exhibits and small business development.
Debbie Boyd Kizer founded Imagine Art in 1997 in an effort to reclaim her life after a long struggle with depression and addiction. Imagine Art became the perfect channel for her passions, contributions, talents and ambitions.
Services were first provided in October 1998 under the fiscal management of The Austin Visual Arts Association and later VSA Arts of Texas.
Each year, the number of artists served doubled and services soon expanded nationwide. The Board of Directors was formed in August 2000, incorporating a statement of faith, which enabled Imagine Art to operate as a ministry project. Imagine Art applied for 501c3 status, and it was awarded in October 2001. Services are continually evolving with the development of our artists.
